In June 2009 James Langley conducted a Drawing Tour of Rome made possible by assistance from the School of Foundation Studies at The Savannah College of Art and Design. The drawing demonstrations Langley developed on location have beccome seminal studies for a contemporary re-invention of the Vedute di Roma, featuring monumental and iconic views of the many layered city. These views of Roma Urbs Aeterna are both prima facie souvenirs of the classical past and meditations on the loss of perfection and harmony in the present.
